Port Freight Logistics Plan

An efficient transport and distribution system in a capital city such as Sydney depends on the effective integration of the various components within the supply chain (including stevedoring, storage, rail and road transport). The port’s area of influence and involvement therefore extends beyond the traditional confines of maritime activities and port operations and into the area of landside logistics.

Sydney Ports has prepared a Port Freight Logistics Plan to deliver environmental gains and improve road and rail performance at Port Botany. The plan reviews existing container freight operations and considers:

  • Maximising the use of rail infrastructure;
  • Minimising the growth in truck movements; and
  • Improving landside transport over the next 10 years.
