Sydney Ports MSIC Operations CentreThe Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) is part of the Australian government’s initiative to strengthen maritime security.

MSIC is a nationally consistent identification card issued to individuals required to work unmonitored or unescorted in a maritime security zone, that have satisfied background check security requirements coordinated by a division of the Attorney-Generals Department.

The Maritime Security Identification Card (MSIC) is part of the Australian government’s initiative to strengthen maritime security. MSIC is a nationally consistent identification card issued to individuals required to work unmonitored or unescorted in a maritime security zone, that have satisfied background check security requirements coordinated by a division of the Attorney-Generals Department. The MSIC was formally introduced in 2006 and made compulsory 1 January 2007 as part of the Australian Governments tightened maritime security laws known as the Maritime Transport and Offshore Facilities Security Act 2003.

Sydney Ports MSIC Service Centre is an authorised MSIC Issuing Body servicing its own employees as well as a large number of Sydney based companies. SPC MSIC Service Centre also provides MSICs to the employees of other Port Corporations around Australia such as Flinders Ports South Australia and Port of Melbourne Corporation.
