Sydney Ports submitted a Major Project Application to the Minister for Planning (Project Application No.10-0069) on 14 May 2010, for the construction and operation of the White Bay Cruise Passenger Terminal. The application included a Preliminary Environmental Assessment Report.
On 7 June 2010, the Department of Planning provided Sydney Ports with its requirements for the preparation of an Environmental Assessment for the project. In response, Sydney Ports prepared the Environmental Assessment Report in consultation with affected stakeholders. This was publicly exhibited from 13 October 2010 to 15 November 2010.
Subsequent to the public exhibition of the Environmental Assessment, submissions were received in response and these were addressed in the Response to Submissions Report and the Response to Additional DoP Issues paper.
On 2 February 2011, the Minister for Planning approved the project, subject to a number of conditions. See a copy of the Project Approval.
In June 2011, Sydney Ports applied to modify the Project Approval as a result of discussions with Leichhardt Council.
On 14 September 2011, the Director-General (under delegation from the NSW Minister for Planning and Infrastructure) approved the modifications that resulted from discussions with Leichhardt Council.
