Construction Works - Project Update

Demolition works are are now complete at White Bay 5.

Asbestos wall cladding has been completely removed from the shed and an asbestos clearance certificate has been issued.

WorkCover representatives visited the site on two occasions while demolition works were being undertaken. They confirmed on both occasions that the asbestos removal and demolition work was being undertaken with appropriate measures and controls in place.

On 15 March 2012 AW Edwards commenced construction of the new terminal. The initial construction activities include:

• corrosion treatment of the existing column and gantry beams
• excavation for services and foundations, including some piling activities
• erection of structural steel
• installation of roofing.

Other works to be undertaken on the site in the future include:

• roadworks to provide access to the new terminal
• installation of new gangways
• construction of a new public access stairway.
