Project Update
Welcome to the Port Botany Expansion updates page; containing updates about the expansion project.
- On 17 June 2011 Baulderstone – Jan de Nul formally completed the dredging and reclamation works associated with 5 new shipping berths, 60ha of land, as well as community and environmental works. View a summary of the construction features.
- On 1 August 2011 approximately 40ha of the Port Botany expansion area was handed over to the lessee, Sydney International Container Terminal Ltd (SICTL), for the fit out as a container terminal, including pavements, buildings, portainer cranes, yard equipment etc. This works area is expected to be completed in the first half of 2013.
- Works associated with the grade separation (eliminates a rail level crossing) on Penrhyn Road, commenced in October 2010 and are expected to be completed by 3rd quarter 2012.
- As part of the project, Sydney Ports is replacing the current pedestrian crossing of the rail line at Banksia Street, Botany with an elevated pedestrian bridge. Work commenced in July 2011 and is expected to be completed by December 2011.
