Rail Team

This section is dedicated to reporting on the initiatives aimed at improving the efficiency of Port Botany freight moved by rail.

Planning / Investment

Port upgrades valued at $1 billion by Sydney Ports Corporation have received NSW Government approval and work is underway to add a new third container terminal. Road and rail capacity servicing the port will be increased to support this investment and an intermodal terminal is being planned for construction at Enfield.

Australian Rail Track Corporation (ARTC) is currently investing in Botany Yard to improve the access and egress with rail and the ports; ARTC took responsibility of this asset from RailCorp in December 2008. These works will be supported by improvements in the Metropolitan Freight Network (MFN) and the construction of the Southern Sydney Freight Line (SSFL), together with upgrades of infrastructure at Enfield Yard.
