Landside transport operations both at and servicing Port Botany are set to be revolutionized under the most ambitious ports reform agenda ever put forward in NSW – the Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy.

Sydney Ports Corporation will take the lead role in working with industry to implement a process of optimising the landside supply chain networks servicing Port Botany, making the movement of freight to and from Port Botany more cost effective, and ultimately maximising the efficient movement of trade passing through the port.

It is the first time in Australia a port management organisation has moved away from the landlord model of port management to become actively engaged in managing and executing improvements to the ports logistics chain.

Sydney Ports Corporation will take responsibility for coordinating the supply chain improvements with industry and collecting performance data which will be used to calibrate the reforms and their successful implementation.

Two working groups have been established to implement changes which will bring about these changes. These groups have representatives from Sydney Ports, industry and other relevant bodies.

Both groups will also have their own Reference Groups to formally consult with on any planned reforms. Representatives of the Reference Groups will provide input as and when required to the deliberations being undertaken by both the Port Road Taskforce and Port Botany Rail Team.
