Carrier Registration & Truck Tracking Tags

To comply with the Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy (PBLIS) Truck Carriers visiting Port Botany must register and request truck tracking.

The registration of your company details is a requirement of the regulation, the simple two-step process provides the opportunity for you to request your RFID tags that you will need to install on each of your trucks that service Port Botany in order to monitor arrival times, truck turnaround times and queue times.

If you have any question please contact the PBLIS Team via email at landsideimprovement@sydneyports.com.au.

Activity One - Carrier Registration

As part of the Port Botany Landside Improvement Strategy (PBLIS), all truck carriers visiting Port Botany are required to register their details with Sydney Ports Corporation.

Registrations will allow you to:

  • comply with the Regulation governing PBLIS;
  • request and receive truck tracking tags for your trucks (for the purpose of measuring truck turnaround time);
  • ensure you receive the benefit of queue time as part of Truck Turnaround Time (TTT) calculations (i.e. TTT will commence from ‘Queue In’ rather than ‘Gate In’) and
  • receive reports regarding carrier performance

To register with Sydney Ports you must:

a) Collate the following information:

  • Company name and ABN details
  • Address and contact details
  • Stevedore carrier codes (the unique code (3-7 characters long) that is created and assigned by the stevedore for each Carrier). Please contact the PBLIS Team via email at landsideimprovement@sydneyports.com.au to obtain these codes
  • Identify the Administrative Contact (the person who is responsible for receiving correspondence in regards to the PBLIS Operational Performance System and general website user information and processes)
  • Identify the PBLIS Contact (the person who is the representative for PBLIS operational performance issues, industry penalties, infringements and distribution of relevant information)

f) Progress to Activity Two

Activity Two - Request Tags

From May 2011, all trucks servicing the Port must be fitted with an RFID truck tracking tag. This tag will be used to capture the movements of each truck when in the Port Botany Precinct and will record arrival time, queue time, truck turnaround time, and the time taken to be serviced by the stevedore.

Truck tracking tags will be supplied by Sydney Ports Corporation, however, it is the responsibility of each carrier to request the correct number of tags needed for their fleet, and then install and verify the tag on each individual truck.

Important:

  • Sydney Ports Corporation will provide each truck with the initial truck tracking tag, subsequent tags will be at the cost of the truck carrier
  • Sydney Ports RFID truck tracking tags are to be installed in addition to any existing RFID tags (e.g. DP World tags)
  • If you are a subcontractor, contact the truck carrier that you are primarily booked through to arrange a tag for your truck

To request tags:

a) Log in to the PBLIS System using your user name and password

b) Once logged on to the Sydney Ports system, click on ‘Request Tags’

c) Enter every Truck Registration Number that requires a tag (every Truck Carrier entering Port Botany must have a tag)

d) Follow instructions on the form to submit

Once you have completed the Request Tag online forms, a Sydney Ports Tag Installation Pack will be sent to you via mail within at least 10 working days.
