Environmental Protection Licence White Bay 4

On 15 July 2005 the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) granted Sydney Ports Corporation a licence to handle bulk liquids cargo at Berth 4, White Bay.

The licence allows Sydney Ports Corporation to handle up to 100,000 tonnes per annum of cargo at the berth. The products permitted include vegetable oils, tallow and fatty acids.

The cargo is most commonly transferred from vessels to road tanker trucks i.e. imported across the berth. Less frequently, cargo is transferred from trucks to vessels for export.

The licence requires Sydney Ports Corporation to adhere to specific conditions, such as noise monitoring reports and complaint reports. Such information, as provided below, will be updated regularly to ensure we meet the terms of our licence.

Noise Monitoring Reports

The licence requires Sydney Ports Corporation to monitor noise the first time each ship berths in order to measure the noise during unloading and also when the ship is present and no other activities are occurring at the berth.

These reports must be submitted to the NSW Department of Environment and Conservation 21 days after monitoring is completed. Each report will be posted here as they are produced.

The noise monitoring reports as required by our licence can be accessed via the following links:
