Sydney Ports Annual Transport Workshop, 20 July 2010

Sydney Ports Cargo Facilitation Committee will be hosted its Annual Transport Workshop, “Future Port – Managing Seasonal Capability” on Tuesday 20 July 2010.

This year’s workshop focused on the potential seasonality issues and possible solutions for the efficient movement of containers through Port Botany in the lead up to Christmas from October 2010 to February 2011.

Participants had the opportunity to review issues raised from last year’s workshop, discuss proactive measures to be implemented to manage high seasonal demands, raise specific transport issues and networked with key industry stakeholders.

Topics discussed will included:

• Throughput volumes and indicative trends
• Stevedore resourcing plans for the peak season
• Impact on road and rail from an infrastructure and capacity perspective
• Rail tagging issues and developments
  
• Empty Container Park capacity
