Sydney Ports Corporation achieved a significant milestone in 2010/11 with zero lost time injuries for the year, meaning each staff member went home every day without suffering any serious harm while at work.
In releasing the Corporation’s 2010/11 Annual Report, Sydney Ports Chief Executive Officer Grant Gilfillan said Sydney Ports has worked hard for this fantastic safety record which was achieved by implementing a system of safety inspections to continually improve the safety for our staff and by conducting regular proactive safety campaigns, reinforcing the principle that safety is everyone’s responsibility.
“This result was a highlight for the staff of Sydney Ports,” said Mr Gilfillan. Mr Gilfillan also highlighted another milestone for 2010/11, which saw container traffic at Port Botany reach 2.02 million TEU - exceeding 2 million TEUs for the first time ever in a financial year.
