Sydney Ports Corporation reported today that container trade through Port Botany for the month of August 2011 was the highest ever for a single month of container movements.
Container trade increased by 2.4 per cent in August 2011 compared to the same month last year, reaching 185,534 TEU*.
Sydney Ports Chief Executive Officer Grant Gilfillan said that the August record trade result had been achieved as the Port caught up from the impact of the July's weather affected port closures and vessel scheduling.
For the month of August 2011, total container volume through Port Botany was 185,534 TEU.
*TEU = Twenty-Foot Equivalent Units
