Sydney Ports Joins Open Day For Port Botany/Port Hacking Marine Plan

Marine Ops MembersOn Saturday the 19th of September, Sydney Ports Corporation took part in a marine open day as an integral member of the Port Botany/Port Hacking Marine Plan. 

All combat and supporting agencies were assembled at the NSW Police Marine area command based at San Souci for a familiarisation day with agencies displaying their vessels and providing an opportunity for crews to become familiar with each agency’s operations.

Sydney Ports was represented by Bulk Liquids Berth Manager Jim Pullin and members of the duty shift from Port Botany. The Corporations duty launch and security patrol vessel the Response Two was led by Shift Master, Craig Gibson and two other Port Officers, Scott Joisce and Scott Swanson.

Marine Plan Open DayA significant presence by members of NSW Police, Royal Volunteer Coastal Patrol, Australian Volunteer Coast Guard, Surf Lifesaving Australia, NSW Maritime Authority, NSW Fisheries, NSW Rural Fire Services, and Federal Airport Fire & Rescue Service were all represented.

NSW local area commander, Superintendant Karen McCarthy was also taken on a Port Security patrol, with Craig Gibson pointing out key areas including Port Operations, the Port Botany Expansion, and the BLB and Caltex facilities.
