The latest construction achievements include:
- Pre-casting of concrete wharf counterfort structures is underway, with over 75 units completed as of late September 2009;
- Dredging operations have re-commenced with the Cutter Section Dredge Marco Polo arriving in Port Botany and commencing works in late August. The dredging with Marco Polo is anticipated to be complete early 2010.
- Completion of dredging by the De Bouganville in the swing basin. This has included widening the Molineux Point shipping channel, which benefits port operations;
- Completion of vibro compaction of sand in the east west counterfort trench, including CPT testing using a jack-up barge. Continuation of vibro compaction in the north south trench and CPT tests; and
- Completion of grab dredging of the trench adjacent to Brotherson Dock to allow the placement of the approximately 3,000 tonne transition structures.
