Port Botany's $1 Billion Third Terminal Operator Announced

Port Botany's Third Terminal Announced Premier Kristina Keneally today announced that Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), one of the world’s largest port operators will operate the $1 billion Third Container Terminal at Port Botany, due to
be operational for trade by 2012. It is expected
the new terminal will boost the state’s economy by $16 billion over the next 20 years. (Source: EIS)

“As one of the most extensive and innovative port infrastructure projects undertaken anywhere in Australia over the last 30 years, Third Terminal (T3) will underpin future job growth as well as
export and import trade in and out of New South Wales and Australia,” Ms Keneally said.

Ports and Waterways Minister Paul McLeay said: “To be competitive in global trade we need world class facilities and international operators and that’s what we will have with this massive infrastructure investment."

“The new terminal will provide the much needed capacity to meet projected long-term trade growth targets for Sydney and provide better access to shipping lines for the state’s exporters and importers” said Grant Gilfillan Chief Executive Officer Sydney Ports.

T3 will increase competition at Port Botany with three stevedoring operations which will improve
productivity. Increased competition will benefit businesses and the residents of NSW by reducing cargo handling charges for goods that come through the port.
