Construction of the new Operations Centre at Port Botany commenced in October 2008 and is now 50% complete.
The existing Port Services building at Brotherson Dock which adjoins the new 2,300m² four storey extension will be refurbished as part of the $6.9 million development.
The new centre will play an important role in the future direction of Sydney Ports. The Operations Centre will centralise control of all commercial shipping for both Sydney ports, including navigation, pilotage, communications and other functions needed to manage shipping effectively and safely.
Construction and interior fit out is expected to be finished in November with the staff relocation commencing before Christmas 2009.
